FAQ

WHAT IS FREQUENCY SPECIFIC MICROCURRENT/FSM?

Microcurrent devices deliver frequencies and current in millionths of an amp and in published studies, has shown its ability to reduce inflammation and  increase energy (ATP) production in cells by 500%.  It is most notably used by professional athletes worldwide. It is also used by NDs, MDs, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists and Occupational therapists to address many conditions.

IS THERE RESEARCH TO SUPPORT THE INTEGRATIVE MODALITIES YOU USE?

As a licensed medical professional, I am used to pouring over the research.  FSM has many published and anecdotal studies demonstrating the profound benefits.  I have spent hundreds of hours reviewing documents that support the theories behind the complementary and integrative modalities I utilize. There is ample research that supports sound and vibration as excellent modalities for triggering beneficial central nervous system responses, stimulating relaxation, and reducing pain.  Sound is used very commonly in Western medicine. We just might not realize it.  For example, the ultrasound Lithroscopy, is a medical procedure that uses high frequency sound to break up kidney stones.

I also may use tools such as Heart Math, which I find a wonderful biofeedback tool in working with clients who stutter, as one example.  There is extensive research on the HeartMath approach that supports the benefits of coherent Heart Rate Variability (HRV), some of which can be applied to the introduction of coherent sound as well. The approach is used by medical doctors and allied professionals across the country

Ultimately, it is the profound benefit I have witnessed in others and that I have experienced in myself that I care most about and sharing those benefits with others.

For Voice Patients: ARE YOU A SINGING TEACHER?

I do not teach vocal technique but may work with you on your technique if I don't think it is benefitting you.  I always work in concert with singing teachers and coaches if you already have one.  I am well versed in singing techniques and training styles and if you are a trained singer,  some of the exercises we do may overlap. If you are interested in singing teachers, I am happy to refer you.

DOES INSURANCE COVER YOUR SPEECH OR VOICE SERVICES?

At this time, I am not a contracted provider for speech or voice therapy services. I am happy to provide a Superbill for you to submit to your insurance. Additionally, you may be able to use your FSA or HSA for services for speech therapy as a medically necessary benefit. All clients are responsible for understanding their out-of-network benefits.

HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I OR MY CHILD NEED?

For therapy, improvement is dependent upon the diagnosis, the severity, and the commitment to changing long-term habits.  We often see immediate changes in the first session, but as with anything, maintenance of these changes depend on small daily changes. If you or I don't observe beneficial changes at 3-4 sessions, then there may be other limiting factors that need to be addressed before continuing. For coaching, every person is individual.  An initial 3-month commitment is recommended to see change over time.  Some may desire 1-2 sessions to implement their goals, and others will continue the partnership indefinitely.
